Saltash Wake Up Shake Up Competition

The Saltash area Wake Up competition was recently held in the hall at Burraton School. Four schools from the cluster took part: Burraton, Bishop Cornish, Brunel and Sir Robert Geffreys, with a mixture of KS1 and KS2 teams.
Jenny Nash, Primary SSCo was ‘on the microphone,' while Michelle Cooke, Secondary SSCo, and her team of leaders were the judges. The music was loud and energetic - children, teachers, TA's and parents alike all had a great time!
Special thanks must go to a small group of Year 5's from Burraton who sorted out all the music for the event and helped resolve the technical difficulties!
The judges deliberated, as the competition was so close, but eventually the KS1 competition was won by pupils from Brunel School, with SRG and Bishop Cornish being equal runners up. The KS2 winners were Sir Robert Geffery's, who narrowly beat Brunel's team by 1 point.
As with all the Wake Up festivals and competitions across the Partnership, it reinforced that 'it is the journey that is so important, the practice, practice and more practice and the team work of the groups'. All of the schools had held competitions within their school to decide who to send to the event, so all those who entered were already winners in their own right.
It is hoped that all schools present will be take the routines shown back to their schools and teach them to other children.
