Budehaven Hosts NC Primary G&T Day for Sport

Released: 23rd April 2009 at 12:00 PM

32 children came to Budehaven during the Easter Holidays for an intensive day of training and information about being an athlete. Each pupil was selected through their primary schools and invited to attend this special training day. Ex-Welsh Rugby International Kevin Moseley, who is now based at Bodmin College, delivered the day. Covering all sports and using a generic approach with a mixture of theory and practical, Kevin talked about the importance of good nutrition and ran practical sessions which focused on functional movement and running technique. The pupils also took part in some simple tests to see which areas they could improve. Jane Cann, Community Development Officer at Budehaven Community School, said, ‘It was a long day for the children, but they all worked really hard and hopefully they will all remember just a couple of the key messages about training and fuelling the body for exercise.' All the pupils who attended received detailed information about the day for them to use in the future and share with their parents, as well as information about the tests they completed.
