NQT PE teacher course a huge success!

Tuesday 10th November 2009

14 teachers attended our annual Callington SSP one day PE course in November.  Aimed at newly qualified teachers and teachers who are in their second year of teaching, the course covered the primary teaching of dance, gymnastics and games. More experienced teachers also attended in order to refresh their knowledge and update their skills.

Mainly geared to KS2, KS1 practitioners who wanted to  extend their knowledge and professional development were also welcome  to attending.

The Dance element was delivered by  Claire Tomkies, Headteacher and  AST & PE Specialist.

Gymnastics was delivered by  Jenny Nash, County TOPS trainer for Gymnastics and  qualified PE teacher.

Games was delivered by Nathan Cooper, County AST for PE and experienced Primary PE specialist

The feedback from attendees was extremely positive:

CPD usefulness: 'Very useful, particularly with practical ideas to use in the lessons'.

'Huge help in my development, thank you'.

Supporting staff & pupils : 'Great for pairing /grp work because we actually did the tasks'.  'Now feel a lot more confident in delivering high quality PE lessons'.

Effectiveness of trainers : 'All enthusiastic, approachable people, willing to help'.  'Engaging in a variety of practical tasks, which makes it more fun'.  'Clearly  all very passionate & experienced in their field – lovely to see'.  'Excellent professional delivery.  Very clear and positive'.

Thanks to all those who attended and participated so enthusiastically! And thanks once again to our trainers who continue to deliver such high quality  opportunities.
