Wild Tribe Conference - 2023 🌳

Over 50 teachers attended the recent Wild Tribe Conference held at Siblyback Lake. Key note speaker Derek Gow opened the conference with a wealth of knowledge on re wilding and the significant impact schools can make in re- wilding areas of their school grounds. Derek is the founder of Re-wilding Coombeshead. Where he is changing his farm from a highly managed human environment of livestock and vivid green pastures to a new landscapes where habitats develop through natural processes.

Merlin Hanbury Tension from Cabilla on Bodmin moor also provided schools with a wealth of knowledge on temperate rainforests and the re- introduction of native species onto his land on Bodmin Moor to support the development of ecosystems. Zoe Oake presented on the introduction of bees onto school sites and talked about their valuable use as pollinators.

Our new programme Earth Tribe was launched with an insight into the schemes of work which will be available early next term to support schools with the sustainability and climate change curriculum.

Teachers also attended practical workshops where they were given the opportunity to make a creepy crawly tower, along with other eco-friendly resources.

Michelle from North Petherwin primary school won one of the creep crawley towers pictured below. This will be used to increase the biodiversity within the School.
