Monthly Ideas- February

Chinese New Year is about removing the bad and the old and welcoming in the new and the good. The first five ideas are based on this premise. 

1. Can you make an item using natural materials and give it to someone else?

2. Can you make up a game with someone that you don’t normally play with?

3. Can you do a good deed for a friend without them knowing at some point during your outdoor lesson? 

4. Can you sit in a quiet spot and contemplate any wrong doings you might have done in the past week and try to put them right?

5. Can you make a paper kite with a picture of a dragon on? 

(Dragons, in China represent good luck, strength, health)

6. Can you look for signs of spring? E.g. New growth? Daffodil bulbs popping up, snow drops, crocuses? 

7. Valentines Day: This is the day of love so can you spend some time finding natural treasures to love or beautiful views and sights? Show someone else your find and explain why you like it. Do they like it too? 

8. Can you make a tiny posy of flowers and plants that you are allowed to pick and put them in a small glass of water? Can you sketch these or just watch and appreciate them?

9. Can you melt chocolate over a fire and dip a marshmallow in? 

10. Can you keep a block of ice frozen outside? Plan how you would do it and time for how long it will stay frozen.
